About Us
What is Tulia?
Tulia Group CIC is a faith-based social enterprise dedicated to addressing systemic injustices and challenges faced by migrant and diaspora communities in the UK. Rooted in Christian values, we aim to empower individuals and communities to achieve long-term stability, dignity, and justice through innovative, strategic, and holistic approaches.
Tulia began as a community group known as Migrant Family Support in 2017, registered as Community Interest Company in 2020. Our Founder and CEO is Rumbidzai Bvunzawabaya, a solicitor of over 20 years. In October 2021 she rebranded, launching Tulia.
We are a team of black and ethnic minority individuals who can truly articulate migrants' issues and are well equipped to help their cases. Long term residency is never a simple story, but we have made it possible for so many people over the years to have good, secure and new beginnings.
Mission Statement
Tulia Group CIC is dedicated to ensuring that migrants to the UK live free from systemic injustices, poverty, and exclusion while being treated with compassion and respect. Our mission extends beyond immediate service delivery to include strategic litigation, advocacy, education, and empowerment, addressing the root causes of inequity and promoting long-term systemic change.
Our Vision
We envision a society where every individual—regardless of origin or immigration status—has the opportunity to experience peace, belonging, and growth. Tulia strives to empower migrants to challenge systemic barriers, build thriving lives, and create a future defined by stability and hope.
The name “Tulia,” meaning “settled” in Swahili, reflects our commitment to helping individuals achieve stability, not just in legal matters but in every aspect of life. By focusing on systemic change through strategic litigation and advocacy, we aim to create a society where migrants feel empowered to overcome challenges, establish roots, and thrive.
Through a combination of strategic litigation, advocacy, capacity-building, and community impact, Tulia Group CIC works to address the root causes of injustice and create transformative, lasting change for migrant and diaspora communities.
Our Key Activities
Tulia offers expert legal advice and support to migrants from all walks of life and are excited to be expanding our services, training and capacity building programmes; especially so that organisations can continue to respond positively to the needs of people who have migrated.
Strategic Litigation for Systemic Change
Tulia Group employs legal action as a tool to challenge unjust policies, practices, and systemic barriers affecting migrants. By engaging in strategic litigation, we aim to set legal precedents, influence policy reform, and advocate for equitable treatment of marginalized groups.Advocacy and Policy Engagement
In tandem with legal efforts, we address structural inequalities by engaging with policymakers, raising public awareness, and amplifying the voices of affected communities. These efforts focus on promoting inclusive policies and dismantling systemic injustices.Capacity-Building for Migrant Communities
We empower individuals through tailored training and mentorship programs, equipping them with the tools and confidence to advocate for themselves and their communities. This includes leadership development, resilience training, and fostering self-advocacy skills.Legal and Holistic Support Services
While our legal support addresses immediate needs, it is part of a broader strategy to empower individuals to achieve sustainable solutions. By addressing issues such as poverty, discrimination, and exclusion, we help individuals transition from crisis to stability while tackling systemic root causes.Community Empowerment and Social Cohesion
Tulia facilitates initiatives aimed at bridging divides, fostering inclusive narratives, and promoting social cohesion. These include dialogues, workshops, and collaborative projects designed to challenge stereotypes and create stronger, more united communities.Faith-Inspired Social Justice Work
Guided by Matthew 25:42-45, our faith-based approach integrates advocacy and action to address root causes of marginalization and inequality. Through education, empowerment, and strategic partnerships, we aim to create sustainable impact.
