We advised a young mother of four with a non-molestation order. She works full time and therefore did not qualify for legal aid. She needed to have the non-molestation order processed quickly. We were able to assist her in completing and submitting the forms in just over 24 hours, safeguarding her and the children.

A skilled worker who came to the UK on a Carer Visa experienced serious problems on arrival in the UK. She approached Tulia after she had been made homeless when her employer fired her unlawfully. We were able to find accommodation, challenge the decision and then find her another job.

I was homeless and without any status no recourse to public funds when I approached MFS for help. My ex was threatening to take my daughter from me in the family courts. They helped me in the family court, supported and advised me to get my immigration status and housing. They also gave me prayer support and help from a counsellor. I cannot believe that I am where I am now. From hopelessness and despair to hope confidence and security. Thank you everyone.

TM made an inquiry for a visitor’s visa after his brother unfortunately died. He had originally been refused a visitors visa to come to England. Tulia utilised their abundance of skills and carefully devised reasoning in order to challenge the ECO. Tulia Caseworkers issued a Pre Action Protocol to the Home Office. This challenge was successful and subsequently, he was able to come to England and resolve the problems surrounding the property of his deceased brother. TM has now received closure after the tumultuous and stressful time in his life.

MD is an asylum seeker from Nigeria. She had been waiting for over 12 months for an initial interview. Her general wellbeing and mental health has improved so much as a result of being able to work and earn a living for herself.

MD made a request to be granted with permission to work.

HPT applied for leave to remain under the 10-year route. HPT has an autistic son who is reliant and fully dependent on him. This applicant was struggling to raise the Home Office fees due to the rise in the cost of living and the inability to pay the high home office fees. As a result, the team applied for a fee waiver for him. Upon hearing that the fee waiver had been accepted, HPT will now be able to apply for leave to remain and stay with his family.

ILR for Victim of Domestic Violence

ZM was a victim of domestic abuse and applied for indefinite leave to remain. He experienced emotional and physical abuse as well as incessant manipulation. ZM’s previous wife continually threatened to deport him and controlled his money. She has been accused on multiple occasions of standing outside of his work waiting for him. He lived in a state of perpetual fear. She even poured freezing cold water over him as a form of torture. The police have been called to their house on multiple occasions due to physical abuse.

He then discovered Tulia and applied for indefinite leave to remain. The application was granted within 8 weeks. ZM is now able to live in peace without fear of his wife and has a stable income. Not only did ZM receive legal advice but he also received listening support in his native language. This made a big difference to his mental health and general wellbeing.

Revocation of a deportation order

EM applicant applied for a fee waiver as they could not afford to pay the legal fees, which was successful. In addition to that, EM had previously committed a crime and thus was threatened to be separated from her children. However, Tulia pleaded her case and showed how she was full of penitence and remorse for her actions; she was young, naïve and vulnerable. Furthermore, they proved that she was not a persistent offender but it was just a one-time mistake. She has two kids, one of which is autistic and also a British citizen. Due to the hard work of the team at Tulia, a revocation of deportation order. which is notoriously difficult, was successful. This family is now united and harmonious despite threats of deportation.

We received a referral from one of the homeless charities that we work alongside. A male victim of domestic violence was sleeping rough. He could not get a bed in a refuge and had no recourse to public funds. Tulia immediately submitted an application under the DDV Concession. He was able to access emergency accommodation and gained access to benefits within 6 days.

A start-up health care company successfully applied for a sponsorship license through Tulia.
