How Marcus Secured His Indefinite Leave to Remain
Marcus, a 45-year-old father of three, first heard about Tulia through colleagues and friends in September 2020. At that time, he was facing a difficult situation with his partner, who threatened to deport him, despite his intentions to remain in the country and support his children’s education. After contacting the organization, he received options and personalized advice from Rumbidzai Bvunzawabaya, which helped him secure Indefinite Leave to Remain, a significant improvement from his previous uncertainty. Additionally, all three of his children obtained Indefinite Leave to Remain, and Tulia assisted him in gaining access to public funds during the pandemic.
Marcus is extremely grateful for the support he received and has referred several friends to the service, stating he would recommend it without hesitation. He feels the organization was instrumental in his situation and became like a family to him, expressing that he has no suggestions for improvement as he was satisfied with the assistance he received.
How did you first hear about Tulia ?
I heard about the organisation through colleagues and friends. I first got in contact in September 2020 and spoke with Rumbidzai Bvunzawabaya
What was your situation like before?
In September of 2020, my situation was very strained, and it was very tense on my end. I had a situation where my partner wanted to deport me or to take me back home.
Despite the fact that the kids are still at school, and that I have a business that I’m operating here, she never minded that because she knew I was about to renew my paperwork. She told me she was not going to support my application, and decided to make sure that we would have to go back to Zimbabwe.
What were your hopes for your situation before getting in contact with Tulia?
I wanted support to make sure that my kids remained in school and that I would remain in the country since I’ve been here for about 5 years, and I was just trying to build my life here. I couldn’t imagine a situation where I’m going back to Zimbabwe, it was really difficult for me
What steps did Tulia take with your situation?
On my first call I was given a lot of options and I did step back and ask Rumbi to advise on a specific option to my situation and she advised me, according to the information that was there, the route that she advised. I then took it, and it helped me up to where I am right now.
What improvements or highlights have there been?
There are a lot of improvements because I now have Indefinite Leave to Remain, I was on the verge of going home and on the verge of, you know, not having any paperwork in the country, so they really supported me and I’m really grateful with that. I was on a spouse visa and I was about to renew to go for the Indefinite Leave to Remain which she- my partner- refused to support.
All three of my children now have Indefinite Leave to Remain. It’s really wonderful.
Since the pandemic I had no recourse to public funds, so the moment I spoke to Rumbi she told me you’re in a financial constrain, definitely we will have to apply to the Home Office to make sure you have access to public funds. Which she did and definitely we managed to. And to anyone else who may have a similar situation like mine I think Tulia is the only way you will get supported, and they’ll always be there for you. Even now after my application I still feel like I’m a member of the family.
Would you recommend the service to others?
120%
So far, I think I’ve referred 3 or 4 people so far, and I’m still going on to refer them because my service was fantastic and it was done in a short space of time, and I’m really grateful.
In which ways could Tulia’s services improve?
So far so good, I really appreciate the conduct because whenever I had a concern either Faharna would get in contact with me, or Rumbi would be in touch with me, and I felt covered to be honest. They were there for me. Yeah, I can’t say anything that needs to be improved at the moment, cause everything was fine for me and with my situation. They were there, they became a family to me and I got the comfort to be honest.
