Solidarity Always

For over 20 years, I’ve worked as a Solicitor specializing in Immigration Law. In all that time, not once did I feel threatened because of my work—until now. Yesterday, at Tulia we made the decision to work from home to protect our clients and our staff from the potential dangers posed by far-right thugs. This is the reality of working in this field, where every day we’re on the front lines, fighting for the rights of migrants against a backdrop of systemic racism in Britain.

For years, we’ve contended with racist, Islamophobic, and anti-migrant state policies, reinforced by media narratives designed to dehumanize and divide us. The recent surge of violence on our streets is not an isolated event—it’s a direct consequence of the harsh immigration policies and inflammatory rhetoric from politicians like Suella Braverman and others on the Right. Their words have emboldened those who seek to spread hatred and fear.

Last night, I cried. Not out of fear, but out of a deep sense of hope and solidarity. I saw the strength in peaceful resistance, and I realized that those standing with us far outnumber those against us. The far right may try to intimidate us with their tactics of fear, but we counter them with the power of organized hope and collective care.

In the face of hatred and division, I’ve witnessed communities coming together, caring for one another, and standing united against those who wish to tear us apart. As Immigration Practitioners, we continue our work with unwavering courage, serving the most vulnerable members of our society. Every day, we fight for justice and the rights of migrants. We remain defiant against the far-right’s attacks on our people, our homes, and our streets—attacks fueled by racism and xenophobia.

We are not backing down. We stand resolute, driven by the belief that justice will prevail and that compassion will overcome hate.
