Can I sponsor a relative through my business?
Yes, there is a possibility that you can sponsor a relative through your business however the process may be different to sponsoring someone who isn’t your relative. Furthermore, the Home Office may further scrutinize this process due to familial ties.
Every business that wants to sponsor migrants needs a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS). A COS displays the main employment conditions, for example, a description of the role, the location of work and the salary. As a rule, a COS is prepared by Immigration Services Providers, who will then ask an appointed person in the Sponsoring Entity to confirm that all details are correct before submitting the Certificate via the electronic Sponsorship Management System (SMS). However, on occasion, an existing employee at the Sponsoring Entity may also submit a COS. To sponsor a relative, familial ties will need to be disclosed. Failure to do so may result in the revocation or suspension of the COS.
