Yes, switching a Student Visa to Skilled Worker Visa is possible. Although, switching from a short-term Student Visitor Visa to a work permit is not possible. To be able to switch, there are criteria that need to be met in relation to the new job including what type of role you will undertake, the skill level, and the salary.

After your application has been accepted your Skilled Worker Visa can be issued for up to 5 years. Extending your visa is able to be done as long as the eligibility requirements are being met. After 5 years you may be permitted to apply for indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
